While there are days for everything now, we love the concept of World Gin Day! After all, who doesn’t love a good G&T? World Gin Day (Saturday, June 10, 2017) is the perfect reason to enjoy a G&T or two in the sunshine. Start by the merry folks at Gin Monkey, the idea is to get everyone and anyone (over drinking age of course…) to celebrate and enjoy gin!

Gin, while it started of to make anti-malaria tonic water palatable, took on a life of its own and is one of the most popular drinks in the world now. It’s fresh, subtle yet complex – no wondering about its popularity then!

World Gin Day is a global celebration of all things gin, Sopwell House, a stunning Georgian manor house located in the city of St. Albans within the Hertfordshire countryside, has fused two of UK’s favourite drinks in this gin recipe: tea and gin! Mixing up the classic gin and tonic, Sopwell House’s expert mixologists have created the G&Tea, which has the addition of earl grey tea and grapefruit juice to give it a sophisticated twist.

Stefano Litti, Restaurant and Bars Manager at Sopwell House, reveals one of the hotel’s most popular and unique cocktails so you can give it a try at home and kick back and relax.

It’s quite simple really – Add the gin, cooled tea and grapefruit juice to a cocktail shaker. Shake and serve over ice in a highball glass. Enjoy!

Afternoon tea or a little evening cheer never tasted so good! Cheers to World Gin Day, we say! Hic.
