Hong Kong is buzzing in October with a wine and dine festival and turns into a beertopia for the brew lovers. It’s not all sinful indulgence though, there’s the Hong Kong cyclothon and the cross harbour race to take in. Exploring the city through food, culture, walking and cycling – is there a more eco-friendly way of getting to know the vibrant city?
Here’s a round-up of the best festivals happening in October:
Beertopia
As the name suggests, it is uptopia for beer lovers. Hong Kong’s largest craft beer festival is in its fourth year and is celebrating in style. Think 500 beers from around the world, food, live music, giant beer pong and flip cup competition. Cheers, we say.

Hong Kong Cyclothon
This is the first cyclothon to take place in Hong Kong, Whether you’re an amateur or a pro pedal pusher, there are eight categories to compete in for different levels. Whether you’re participating or cheering on the cyclists doing all the huffing and puffing, makes for an excellent experience.
When: Oct 10 – 11
Where: Various areas of Hong Kong. The 35-km Challenge Ride will see the iconic Tsing Ma Bridge open for the first time for a cycling event.
The Cross Harbour Race
The Cross Harbour Race has about 1,000 contestants swimming 1.8 km across the iconic Victoria Harbour. The event has historical significance as it was held annually from 1906 to 1979, when it was suspended. It was resumed in 2011, bringing back many happy memories for locals. The swimming elites from all over Asia will go from Sam Ka Tsuen Public Landing to Sai Wan Ho Harbour Park.

Wine and Dine Festival
A whole month of indulgence! Bliss. This four-day festival hosts 300 stalls, restaurants and vineyards from around the world. Add to that the backdrop of the Victoria Harbour, and you have the ingredients that bring the right flavour to the party.
