Bowl boat rafting or coracle rafting is an innovative and eco-friendly way to explore the rivers in India. The Adavi Ecotourism project was jointly launched by the departments of Forest and Tourism in the lush state of Kerala. The idea is for tourists to get into a traditional bowl boat made of bamboo and float down a pretty, gentle part of the river leisurely.
Coracle rafting is the first of its kind in Kerala. A group of four can put their rowing prowess to test at Adavi, a picturesque forest patch on the banks of the river Kallar. The rafting begins from Mundommoozhy, goes through Thottikayam, Idikallu, Thattathikayam and finally reaches Irattayaar.
At Ecophiles, we love initiatives that give the traditional a contemporary funk and make it enjoyable for eco-conscious travelers. We are also looking forward to the rehabilitation centre/sanctuary for elephants, that is in the works.
