The fifth is the Taj Mahal, the world’s most magnificent ode to love. (We are, to be perfectly honest, biased, and would happily vote the Mughal marvel No 1).
In the UK, these sites came up trumps:
- In England: the Lake District National Park (#36), The Tate Modern (#52), Stonehenge (#62) and the Eden Project (#281)
- In Wales: Snowdonia (#181), St Davids Cathedral (#294) and the Brecon Beacons (#365)
- In Scotland: Edinburgh Castle (#58), the Isle of Skye (#64) and Skara Brae (#134)
- In Northern Ireland: The Giant’s Causeway (#103) and Titanic Belfast (#424)
