From Maine to Wyoming, where to catch the most memorable sunsets on your US trip.

Mother nature provides us with the most spectacular vistas that create memories that last forever. Breathtaking sunsets are perhaps one of the most romantic things to witness, so head to these glorious destinations on your US trip for the most picture-perfect sunsets.

Sunset Beach, Hawaii

Oahu is known for having some of the biggest waves in the winter, making it the travel destination for surfers. However, this beach’s nickname already gives away its main attraction: sunsets. The most iconic sunset photos are taken here.

You’ll find Sunset Beach outside of Haleiwa Town past Waimea Bay. Enjoy a full day of relaxing under the sun and hit up the big waves during the day. Then once the sun starts to set, get ready to capture the moment when the sky begins to become orange and purple. You’ll be in paradise.

Lake Powell, Arizona

Arizona offers many activities that relate to the canyons. Lake Powell, in northern Arizona, stretches out into southern Utah and is part of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Think 2,000 miles of shoreline, endless sun, great weather, and some of the most spectacular scenery in the west.

There’s hiking on North and South Lake Powell as well as boat tours that will take you in between the canyons and will allow you a closer look. The canyons aren’t the only beautiful thing in Lake Powell though. Once the sun sets, the canyons offer a sublime backdrop. If you’re in the water you will still be able to embrace the moment and enjoy it from a different perspective.

Bass Harbor Lighthouse, Maine

This lighthouse was built in the late 1850s, making it a historic foundation of Maine. There is a path right on the side of the lighthouse that will give you a breathtaking view of the harbor and islands in the distance.

If you make your way down the lighthouse, there is a path that will let you see a beautiful view of the lighthouse in its glory, against the backdrop of the golden sky. The lighthouse closes at sunset, so this is the prime time to take photos. You’ll be able to see the colorful, yet dark, sky along with the trees and the lighthouse itself. Do be careful on your way down and back up because there are no rails and the path is quite steep.

Camas Prairie, Idaho

Camas Prairie is a national forest in Idaho that provides opportunities to view Camas Lilies, which were used by Native Americans as a medicinal and food source. Camas roots were collected in great quantities by Native American women and were used to make bread. These lovely lilies can be admired throughout the day, but you will be in awe when you witness it during the sunset. Seeing the purple of the lilies blend in with the golden setting sun is pretty close to nirvana.

Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is Kentucky’s largest city and is right on the Ohio River along the Indiana border. There are lots of activities to do here, but be sure to make it in time for the sunset near the Kentucky and Indiana Terminal Bridge.

The bridge is connected with other bridges, making it the Big Four Bridge. Here, you’ll be able to lock eyes on the sunset reflected in the water with the bridge picturesquely in silhouette.

Liberty State Park, New Jersey

Located in Paterson, New Jersey, you’ll be able to see New York from here. Mainly the Manhattan Skyline and Ellis Island. Keeping in this mind, once the sun sets it will shine down on the New York City skyscrapers, making the glass on the buildings glisten. Not to mention since there is a body of water in between you and the city, you can capture the reflection of this effect.

Have fun on land or water, but be ready to be on land and head out near the Outerbanks Fishing Pier, where you can have front row seats to a beautiful view. You’ll definitely feel at peace when you witness the sunset, while also listening to the sounds of the ocean beneath you.
